A story dedicated to Seb..
Once upon a time there was a young man who was the only one on his island...It was an island of unspoken beauty and he never really wondered how he had got there..It was his natural habitat, where he could always do whatever he had wanted.. He had enjoyed his land with the colourful flowers and the juicy strawberries. Sam was good in making spectacular wooden sculptures, a fact he had discovered by building things out of wood. There were a million things to do to keep himself busy. He enjoyed swimming naked and rolling in the wet sand, drinking milk out of the coconuts or playing with the dolphins..
Sometimes though, when the storms came over he felt a deep pain reviving from his chest which always burst out in tears running from his eyes…Sam didn’t know that this was called melancholy…He missed something. And he couldn’t name it. He then sat on his favourite rock and watched the rain hitting the sea until this “strange” pain left his chest.
One day as he was walking down the palm path, he noticed something at the shore. It looked like a..a bottle! A green big bottle sealed with wax. He ran to grab it as the waves tried to swallow it. Sam couldn’t believe in his eyes. He was so excited about this new finding that his hands started to shake and his heart beat in a dancing rhythm. “There is actually something inside!!” he yelled. He ran to his woodhouse and grabbed for something sharp.
At last he opened the bottle…
Inside there was a leaf from a strange tree folded in four. He opened the leaf and found a small quantity of purple sand. He had never seen anything like this before. As he turned the leaf to place it on the ground he then realized that there was a handwriting…
“ A gift for you my prince. May it bring you relief on the days of rain… You are always in my mind..”
Sam realized that he could understand the written language and now a new feeling of anxiety came along. He felt excited but also frightened about the weird message. “Who is out there?” he asked himself. “Where did the bottle come from?” He sat there at the beach wondering all these questions until he fell asleep to a gorgeous dream. A dream of which he had never thought to exist took him far far away to the purple island.
